The OHANA Keahou Beach Resort sits directly on the Kona Coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. Part of the seven-story hotel is actually built over tidal pools where Hawaiian green sea turtles glide through the tranquil waters. This premier resort recently unerwent a comprehensive renovation, reopening in march 1999. All guest rooms, public areas, landscaping, meeting rooms and restaurants received extensive renovations and refurbishment. Today, it is one of the newest and finest mid-priced properties on the Big Island. Historical sites on property include the remains of two ancient heiau (sacred temples), a canoe landing and petroglyphs made by Hawaii's ancient people. A more recent addition is a replica of King David Kalakaua's summer home of the late 1800s.
